In a previous publication, we called attention to the opportunity that, in our view, osteopathy should be given in the treatment of long COVID symptoms. A recent article in the NRC from Saturday, June 11, 2022, highlights the current state of affairs. This article explains more clearly than previous ones that certain lingering physical complaints can be attributed to damage sustained in the small blood vessels near the heart and lungs. Simply put, scar tissue.
In addition, science increasingly appears to acknowledge the negative impact of the coronavirus on other viruses, or particles thereof, already lying dormant in the body, such as the Epstein-Barr virus; the cause of glandular fever.
This latter phenomenon seems to play a primary role, particularly in the group of patients with central neurological complaints: headaches, dizziness, persistent low-grade fever, loss of smell, sleep problems, lack of concentration, and forgetfulness; the so-called “brain fog.”
The number of patients finding their way to us for this latter series of complaints is steadily increasing. They are satisfied, and we are pleased to be able to play a positive role in this immensely burdensome long COVID situation.
