Between the establishment of the 1st university for osteopathy in Kirksville, USA, in 1892 and the founding of Andromeda Center for Osteopathy in Veldhoven in 2004, there are 112 years and a world of development. This entire development is entirely attributable to the desire of every osteopath to thoroughly understand each person who seeks their help and, using this knowledge, to assist the patient as quickly and effectively as possible. This knowledge begins with asking questions in case of doubt, then using the acquired knowledge and experience for the next patient and sharing it with colleagues.
Names are not the most important, but for the record, when asked, Ton van der Heiden was the first osteopath to start at the ACO in 2001. Four years later, Arie Kroon joined him. This collaboration lasted until 2020, the year in which Marc van Leeuwen took Arie’s place. In 2022, they were strengthened with Chris Degens, and at the end of 2024, Sten Bierens joined them.
They share the same vision, shaped by continuous education in the Netherlands and abroad, daily discussions, and a great passion for their work. This dedication is also evident in their podcast, Osteo Talkings, where Marc and Ton discuss their cases.
In short, osteopaths Ton van der Heiden, Marc van Leeuwen, Chris Degens, and Sten Bierens do not claim to have all the wisdom, but they do want to emphasize that, with 24 years of valuable and fruitful work, they have earned their place in the field.
