The complaints can arise suddenly after a fall or injury, but can also develop gradually due to prolonged strain. The wrist consists of a complex interaction of bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves. When one of these structures functions less effectively, complaints can arise. Furthermore, pain in the wrist is not always caused by a problem in the wrist itself. Tasks involving many repetitive movements can also cause overloading of the wrist. In such cases, we always ask ourselves why the load-bearing capacity of the wrist is reduced. Sometimes there is a clear cause, such as a fall or sports injury, but often multiple factors play a role simultaneously. For instance, complaints can arise from a wrist sprain, a TFCC injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendon irritation, or overloading of muscles and tendons. Joint wear and tear, movement restrictions in the joint, inflammatory reactions, or residual complaints after surgery can also contribute to pain, stiffness, or loss of strength. Certain sports that put a lot of pressure on the wrist, such as tennis, weightlifting, or gymnastics, can also increase the strain on the joints and surrounding tissues. Het fijne van Marc van Leeuwen is dat hij naast osteopaat ook Manueel therapeut en Sportfysiotherapeut geweest is. Hierdoor paste zijn benadering goed bij mij als fanatieke sporter. Ik ben nu 4 keer geweest voor mijn dochter en ben absoluut tevreden met het resultaat.
